This year has been filled with ups and downs for me. Let's take things by month.
January: At the DT (Dept. of Treasury) finished up training. Went to Dallas Comicon in the last week of January and got Todd Nauck to draw Kimiko for me. Overall rating: Very good
February:
Went out on the floor for the first time at the day job. Found out the hard way why people were so screwed up there. Helping the people that I help is like trying to rescue someone from drowning by swimming out to them. You swim to them, and tell them to grab your hand and you'll pull them to shore. They grab you and try to climb over you. They don't go up; you go down.I found myself getting ideas only on the weekends and getting messed up a lot. Rating: Meh
March:
After six years of working hard and much frustration, I finally got Secret Agent Fangirl online March 18th. Changed subtitle of site from "One step away from my own series" to "The dream is now real." Rating: Excellent!!
April: DA hit us with that so-called harmless April Fool's joke. I don't mind an april fool's joke as long as it's in good taste, but this one was not. Their stupid hurt my brain. Even worse, I complained about it to the mods, and they retaliated by sticking my avatar on default and my sig on the April 1 sig. It would remain that way until June when I got a premium subscription to fix the problem. At the day job, got moved from tax law to bal due. The stupid there hurt my brain even more. To top it all off, my truck got wrecked in an accident by a drunk driver that had no insurance, was driving on a suspended license, and died before slamming into me. Maybe it was karma for getting SAFG online, who knows. Rating: Ugh.
May:
Not much happened here.
June: Went to A-Kon to boost my sagging spirits, and got them boosted. Bought a full year's premium subscription at the suggestion of someone to break out of the avatar thing. Rating: Good
July: Day job denied me the Friday of San Japan off, so I had to drive from Dallas to San Antonio starting at midnight in Dallas. Arrived at SA bleary-eyed at around 5:30 am. Slept about two-thirds of the way through Saturday, didn't really get to completely enjoy San Japan as much as I wanted. I thought Amelie would like to see the bishonen guys in Valkyria Chronicles. She didn't seem that impressed (well, not as impressed as she was with Kamina.) Rating: Good
August: Same old stuff here. Rating: Meh
September: I was very surprised by how many people faved the deviation "It is known worldwide." It's always been my policy to thank people for faves, but they came so fast that all I had time to do was just copy and paste some plz icons to thank them. It and its sequel remain among the most popular deviations I've done. Rating: good
October: I got a year older on the first, and a few happy birthdays. Then DA implimented a bug-ridden bot to catch art thieves, and made me take a number of pictures down, even ones that I had permission to use, including the Todd Nauck headshot of Kimiko. I got a couple of notes asking what was going on. Rating: bad
November: I couldn't get off the day job again for Yulecon. Even worse, I got charged AWOL from the day job even though I was there. (The time keeper screwed up and messed up about ten people's times, including mine.) Well, I went to Yulecon and had a wonderful time. I got an idea done that a lot of people refused to do for no good reason. Rating: Okay
December: It's really hard to be in the Christmas spirit when you're being called Ebeneezer Scrooge and the Grinch constantly at your day job. This year it just didn't seem like Christmas to me; it was more like a holiday in which I wasn't allowed to participate. Things just seemed like a movie wher I could only see a tiny part. Rating: meh
Overall: The highs really were better than the lows, and I'm better off now than I was this time last year. 2011 can only be better!
