Has it really been ten years since I created her? Man, how time flies. I was at a comic book convention in 2001 when I saw some fangirls talking about how TEH SMECKSY Gambit was. I wondered what would happen if a rabid fangirl suddenly gained superhuman powers. (That's right; Kimiko was originally a superheroine. I changed it since I felt there were too many superheroines as it was.) She evolved over time but some things were consistent: being a little on the sarcastic side, and being a rabid fangirl. One of her early stories had her meeting a superhero and fawning all over him, only to get hurt by the bad guys. Unfortunately, I've lost a lot of those early stories.
Kimiko dropped everything on the floor after seeing the card. Hey, I was on a budget here. Don't blame me or the pastry chef's assistant that made a Christmas cake too early. It was on sale cheap.

You are SO BUSTED! Well, at least the Christmas cake was made in advance for this Christmas, instead of having gone stale from the last one. I'm not sure if that was a bigger flubber than spelling her name wrong or revealing her age on the cake or candles.
I wouldn't want to say that superheroes have been done to death, but Kimiko as a superhero probably would have been lost in the superhero shuffle somewhere. Nice piece, and Happy Birthday, Kimiko!
